During a recent episode of their SmartLess podcast, Jason Bateman jokingly pressed Will Arnett about personal habits during his marriage to Amy Poehler

Jason Bateman wasn't afraid to rib his co-host Will Arnett a bit on a recent episode of SmartLess.
The conversation started innocently enough with Arnett, 56, explaining to his SmartLess cohosts, Bateman, 57, and Sean Hayes that he's never been one to embrace certain kinds of "dude s---."
More specifically, the Is This Thing On? star admitted he's not the type to burp or fart openly around friends.
That's when Bateman took the discussion in a much more personal direction.
"Will, did you ever poo in front of Amy?" he asked on the June 22 episode, referring to Arnett's ex-wife, Amy Poehler.
Poehler, 54, and Arnett were married from 2003 to 2016 and share two children, Archie, 17, and Abel, 15.

The blunt question immediately drew laughs, but Arnett wasn't about to give his co-host an answer right away.
"Are you looking for clicks?" Arnett asked. "Are you trying to get something we can click around?"
Bateman, who admitted he sometimes forgets just how many people listen to the podcast, continued pressing the issue.
"But hang on, you were married to her, had two kids. You guys never went to the bathroom in front of each other?" he asked.
Arnett remained focused on the absurdity of the question itself.
"I'm sorry," he replied. "The question is, 'Did I poo in front of Amy?' And you're saying that I don't have manners?"

The actor ultimately drew a line in the sand.
"I refuse to answer that," he said after Hayes, 55, jokingly defended the question as a good one.
While Arnett and Poehler rarely discuss their relationship publicly, the former couple have long maintained a friendly dynamic over the years. Poehler has even appeared as a surprise guest on an April 2025 episode of SmartLess.
In December 2025, Arnett shared that when Poehler's podcast Good Hang landed a Golden Globe nomination alongside SmartLess, which she ultimately took home a win for, she texted him and Hayes to celebrate.
"Amy texted Sean and me this morning saying, 'We all got nominated for Golden Globes, let's party,' " he told Rolling Stone. "And then she said, 'I don't have Bateman's number, that's probably for the best.' "

Back on SmartLess, Arnett predicted that Poehler would have strong feelings about the conversation.
"She's going to be outraged by this, by the way," Arnett said with a laugh.
Adding to the comedy of the moment, Bateman then remembered that the episode's mystery guest had been listening in on the entire exchange.
The guest was later revealed to be another Amy — Amy Adams — who happily joined in on the joke.
"I'm so glad I entered during this conversation," Adams, 51, told the group. "I'm fine with poop talk, absolutely."
SmartLess releases new episodes every Monday.
