The White House is celebrating* Star Wars *Day with an unusual social media post.
On Monday May 4, which has become known as *Star Wars* Day, riffing on the quote "May the Force be with you," the White House shared an edited image of President Donald Trump as the Mandalorian with Grogu in tow.
Trump holds an American flag in one hand, that notably has only 11 red and white stripes as opposed to 13. In the other, he holds the Mandalorian helmet — which any fan will tell you that being bare-faced is against the Mandalorian code.
"In a galaxy that demands strength - America stands ready," the White House wrote on X. "This is the way. May the 4th be with you."
* *contacted the Walt Disney Company and LucasFilm but did not receive an immediate response.
*Star Wars* fans spoke out online, seemingly shocked by the photoshopped image. "Using *Star Wars* quotes to talk about military strength feels a little bit dystopian if we are being honest," one user commented on Instagram. "Please tell me there will be a lawsuit," another said of using *Star Wars*' IP.
"This has caused a major disturbance in the force today. Yikes," someone else chimed in, summing up the general feeling online.

"New doctor outfit?🤡🤡🤡," someone wrote, referring to the AI-generated image the White House shared in April of Trump as a Jesus-like figure. Trump reacted to the photo, claiming that he thought the picture was him "as a doctor."
"It's supposed to be me as a doctor, making people better. And I do make people better. I make people a lot better," he told reporters, adding that he believed the picture "had to do with Red Cross," since there was "a Red Cross worker there, which we support."

This isn't the first time the White House has shared *Star Wars*-inspired imagery of Trump. For *Star Wars* Day in 2025, the White House posted a photoshopped image of a muscular Trump holding a red lightsaber surrounded by bald eagles.
"Happy May the 4th to all, including the Radical Left Lunatics who are fighting so hard to to bring Sith Lords, Murderers, Drug Lords, Dangerous Prisoners, & well known MS-13 Gang Members, back into our Galaxy. You’re not the Rebellion—you’re the Empire," the caption read.**

Mark Hamill, who starred as Luke Skywalker in the original *Star Wars* trilogy and *The Last Jedi*, called out the president. “Well, first of all, I thought: 'If he's a *Star Wars* fan, he should know he should be holding a green lightsaber,'" Hamill said while on *The View* in June 2025. "Not an evil red lightsaber!"**
He also commented on the picture in real time online, writing: "Proof this guy is full of Sith." Hamill concluded, noting that the only way to cope with Trump's strange social media posts is with humor.
"I don't get angry and I don't drop F-bombs," he said. "I mean, I know I have a lot of kids that follow me, but I think to have fun with it, mock him — that's the kryptonite to malignant narcissists."
