Tiger Woods is getting back to work after returning from rehab.

The golfer, 50, made his first public appearance since landing back in the United States at an event for the PGA Tour on Tuesday, June 23. Woods, who returned from Switzerland a week and a half earlier, introduced PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp at the event, where the PGA announced a revamped version of the Tour beginning in 2028.

In his first public remarks since his car crash and DUI arrest, Woods explained the work he and his fellow PGA Tour members asked, "How do we build the strongest version of the PGA Tour?" as they approached making updates to the golf organization.

"This work was never about any one player or person. It was about bringing together different perspectives, having honest, hard conversations, and thinking boldly about what is best for the game that we all love," Woods said, as seen in videos of the event shared by Golf Channel.

"It has been a privilege to work with all the committee members, and especially my fellow player-directors. I'm proud of the work we've done, and I'm grateful to everyone who contributed along the way," he continued. "We have to look forward, and beyond today, over the horizon, to set up the PGA tour and our sport for the future generation of players and our fans."

Prior to the event, Woods was last spotted smiling as he landed in Florida on June 12 after spending six weeks in rehab. He briefly returned during his rehab stint on May 13, and sources later told PEOPLE that Woods had come back to the U.S. to support his girlfriend, Vanessa Trump, amid her breast cancer treatment.

"Tiger flew back to take care of some things and offer support to his girlfriend Vanessa's health issues as well as to be here for her golfer daughter Kai's high school graduation," an insider said on May 26.

Woods opted to go to rehab after he was charged with suspicion of driving under the influence and for refusing to submit to a urine test after being involved in a rollover car accident in Jupiter Island, Fla., on March 27. He pleaded not guilty to both charges on March 31, according to documents obtained by PEOPLE.

At the time of his arrest, deputies with the Martin County Sheriff's Office allegedly found him carrying hydrocodone pills in his pocket, according a probable cause affidavit obtained by PEOPLE. After issuing a sobriety test, deputies "observed several signs of impairment," including "bloodshot and glassy" eyes and "extremely dilated" pupils, they alleged.
