‘This Is Delusional,’ ‘Take Away Microphones’ — Fans Push Back After Micah Parsons Says Commanders QB Jayden Daniels Probably Cost Dan Quinn His JobIf Week 5 wasn’t noisy enough, Green Bay Packers edge rusher Micah Parsons has now sparked considerable debate after suggesting that Jayden Daniels may have cost Washington Commanders head coach Dan Quinn his job. Parsons’ take came as the Commanders settled for a costly overtime tie with the New York Giants after a few decisions that left fans, viewers, media analysts, and, it appears, even current players struggling to wrap their head around what the Commanders were up to.

If Week 5 wasn’t noisy enough, Green Bay Packers edge rusher Micah Parsons has now sparked considerable debate after suggesting that Jayden Daniels may have cost Washington Commanders head coach Dan Quinn his job.

Parsons’ take came as the Commanders settled for a costly overtime tie with the New York Giants after a few decisions that left fans, viewers, media analysts, and, it appears, even current players struggling to wrap their head around what the Commanders were up to.

Micah Parsons Draws Criticism for Calling Out Jayden Daniels

The Washington Commanders were in field-goal range in overtime on Sunday with no timeouts left. Instead of spiking the ball, they ran one more play, and time expired before they could line up to stop the clock, leaving the game a bitter 27-27 tie.

Reacting to the incident on his Bleacher Report show, Parsons came to Quinn’s defense, the former defensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys from 2021 to 2023, while placing the blame squarely on Daniels.

“Jayden Daniels probably cost my man Dan Quinn his job, to be honest with you,” Parsons said on “The Edge with Micah Parsons,” adding that he would like to see more accountability from Daniels.

He also questioned whether Washington would eventually pay their franchise quarterback $60 million, faulting the lack of urgency after Daniels went down on the final play, saying, “I’m a big JD5 fan, but that’s inexcusable.”

On the show, Parsons said teams go through end-of-game situations every week, even in mock games, and he called the finish a lack of preparation and urgency on Daniels’ part.

“Take away microphones!” one fan wrote, while another was surprised that there were people defending the Commanders’ head coach.

“Micah, take your personal relationship with Dan Quinn out of it!” another posted. “He’s 18-20-1 since 2024. A LOSING RECORD! Poor clock management, defensive struggles, blown leads and communication issues.”

“At what point does the HEAD COACH take responsibility? Jayden isn’t his damn scapegoat!” they added.

Other fans looked past Daniels to the coach Parsons was defending. “No, Micah,” a Commanders fan account wrote. “Jayden Daniels did not cost Dan Quinn his job. Dan Quinn cost his job himself.”

“Dan Quinn’s only job is to manage the clock and he couldn’t even do that,” a third fan wrote.

Washington, which led 27-13 early in the fourth quarter, got the ball back in overtime when Shy Tuttle recovered a fumble by Giants running back Cam Skattebo. The Commanders then reached the Giants’ 24-yard line with 50 seconds left.

Quinn put what followed on himself after the game. He called clocking the ball early the right call, rather than trying to gain more yards for the kick, and said of Daniels, “The sequencing of that does not fall on him.”

Daniels ran for 103 yards and two touchdowns and completed 17 of 25 passes for 199 yards in his return from injury. He ranked 13th in PFN’s NFL QB Impact Score with a 76.2 grade in the game against the Giants.

Daniels had also said that the offense had to be aware of the situation and stop the clock, admitting that, “Ultimately, it’s on me.”

“This is delusional,” one D.C. sports fan wrote of Parsons’ take. “Dan Quinn is costing himself his job like he did others.”

Quinn is 18-20-1 in Washington, but he’s 6-15-1 since leading the Commanders to the NFC Championship Game in his first season.

“I do know how the league goes,” Quinn said on Monday when asked about his job security. “I’m well aware of that.”

ESPN’s John Keim reported that the Commanders have no plans to make coaching changes after the tie, which left them 1-3-1 and bottom of the NFC East.
