The Survivor 50 premiere was a roaring success, but one of the biggest talking points came when one player found the Billie Eilish Boomerang Idol. What powers do this new addition to the game hold, and how does it work? We’ve got all of the details…

When Genevieve Mushaluk found a letter from Billie Eilish, she learned exactly what the advantage entailed. The castaway had to choose someone on a different tribe to receive the idol. If that player was voted out without using the idol, it would “boomerang” back to her, and she would be able to keep it.
Genevieve decided to gift the idol to Ozzy Lusth, hoping that he would be blindsided. When the Billie Eilish Boomerang Idol arrived in his bag, he learned some more details about its power.
While the note for Ozzy that came with the idol didn’t reveal who sent it, or how it could be returned to them, it did tell him some rules.
Ozzy cannot use the Billie Eilish Boomerang Idol on anyone but himself, and he cannot give it away. The idol would retain its power up to and including the final five.

Now, with both the Billie Eilish Boomerang Idol and an extra vote in his pocket, Ozzy was feeling more powerful than ever before. Those are big words coming from someone who has played multiple times.
Exactly how the idol will be used remains to be seen. But one thing’s clear after the Season 50 premiere; you can never quite tell where the game’s going next.
Survivor 50 continues Wednesdays on CBS, and is available to stream.
