Suki Waterhouse revealed how Robert Pattinson reacted to being the inspiration for her song “Weirdo”

“He loves the song,” the actress and model said during the Wednesday, Aug. 12 episode of the Nicky at Night podcast

The couple began dating in 2018 and got engaged in 2023

Suki Waterhouse revealed how Robert Pattinson reacted to being the inspiration for her song “Weirdo.”

During the Wednesday, Aug. 12 episode of the Nicky at Night podcast, the actress and model opened up about how her fiancé, with whom she shares a daughter born in March 2024, was the muse for the song on her album Loveland.

“He is a weirdo, and so he definitely inspired the track,” said Waterhouse, 34. “He’s my weirdo, and he loves that song. I’ve played him that song before, and then actually when it came out, he probably, like, saw some stuff on Twitter and he’s like, ‘Well I just listened to all the lyrics,’ and he’s like, ‘I love that song.’”

The Daisy Jones & The Sixstar then said that Pattinson, 40, “loves things being about him.”

“Then he was like, ‘You know, you should have called the album ‘Weirdo.’’ It would have been a cute album [title],” Waterhouse recalled.

She then noted how it was “such a surprise” to see how listeners have responded to “Weirdo.”

“There’s been like times in the last couple of months where I’ve been like, ‘Oh, I think that should be a single,’ and everyone’s like, ‘That’s not a single,’ or ‘I love it.’ It’s weirdly become, I feel like, it’s sort of people’s favorite, and it’s really nice,” says Waterhouse.

She then said seeing so much love for the song made her excited about writing her next record.

“It makes me want to get back into the studio and be like, ‘Okay, I can be more personal and blunt,’” said Waterhouse.

In a July interview with Rolling Stone, Waterhouse spoke about how “Weirdo” is “reassuring” about her relationship with Pattinson.

“Since I’ve had my daughter, we’ve both been on this whirlwind, and he’s been making lots of movies, and that means not always being together, which is something that I find difficult and grapple with,” the “Back in Love” artist said at the time.

“‘[Weirdo]’ feels like it has this knowing that we’ll be back together again. We can both be doing our own thing and be apart, and we’re strong enough...we have that thread between us,” added Waterhouse.

Waterhouse’s album Loveland is out now.
