If Meryl Streep is unleashing icy glares and withering zingers, there's only one role she could be playing.

Streep returns as the imperious and deliciously savage Miranda Priestly, cinema's most caustic fashion magazine editor, and reunites with Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci for the long-awaited sequel "The Devil Wears Prada 2." It's time to start thinking about spending serious time at the movie theater because summer movie season is getting rolling this first weekend of May. "Devil" is joined by a new star-studded, animated take on George Orwell's classic satire "Animal Farm," as well as the supernatural horror movie "Hokum" with "Severance" main man Adam Scott.

I'm more jeans-and-tees guy than couture dude but even I can appreciate the fashionista vibe of "The Devil Wears Prada 2." The sequel brings Andy Sachs (Anne Hathaway) back into the lives of mercurial editrix Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep) and her loyal No. 2 Nigel Kipling (Stanley Tucci) to help save fashion magazine Runway. This "Devil" runs back a lot, probably too much, to the first one but "Prada 2" surprises as a rather honest look at modern media. (Peep my ★★★ review.)

I can't gift y'all any free designer handbags but instead I give you my bud Patrick Ryan's deep-diving "Prada 2" coverage. He went all in on Hathaway's instantly iconic mosaic dress, Streep sticking up for working moms, the naughty Italian word that Tucci taught his sister-in-law Blunt (yes, they are related) and how Blunt and her husband John Krasinski are protecting their kids from AI.

Travel to Andy Serkis' very different version of George Orwell's 'Animal Farm'

Andy Serkis puts his own stamp on a classic tale with his adaptation of George Orwell's "Animal Farm."

From the moment the trailer debuted for director Andy Serkis' animated take on "Animal Farm," people were up in arms about turning George Orwell's classic 1945 allegory into a vehicle for cute talking critters and pop songs. But Serkis "welcomed" the controversy, he tells books reporter Clare Mulroy. "I loved that debate because that's what it's all about, creating a debate," says Serkis, who stopped by our NYC office to also chat about why he didn't want to have a "bleak" ending and wasn't worried about replacing violence with potty humor.

Truth be told, this "Animal Farm" is not great, but kids most likely will want to see it, so I put together a guide to what moms and dads about the modern adaptation. If the youngsters are looking for a really good animated animal flick this weekend, though, tuck into Netflix's charming and thoughtful "Swapped," one of several movies new to streaming services.

Navigate haunting chills with Adam Scott's terrifying 'Hokum'

Ohm (Adam Scott) braves witches and claustrophobia in the horror film "Hokum."

Fun fact: One of Adam Scott's very first movie roles was in 1996's "Hellraiser: Bloodline." The "Severance" and "Parks & Recreation" star is mostly known for his comedy acting but he still dabbles in horror every so often, like with the new supernatural chiller "Hokum." Scott stars as a prickly author who visits an Irish hotel haunted by a witch and also gets embroiled in a murder mystery. “It’s profoundly scary, and it really sneaks up on you in a really fun way," Scott says, also telling me about the absolutely freaky scene that "made me audibly yelp out loud and jump."

I also talked with Scott for an exclusive first look at his upcoming Netflix thriller "The Whisper Man." He plays a crime writer whose boy is abducted, and he reaches out to his estranged retired cop dad (Robert De Niro) for help. Scott, it turns out, is a big DeNiro fan: "He is the guy.”
