Queen Camilla’s alleged strained relationship with her stepsons, Prince William and Prince Harry, has repeatedly been the subject of scrutiny and discussion. However, the latest development suggests that while Harry and his wife Meghan Markle are touted as the “rebels” of the family, the Queen does not consider them a huge threat. Instead, she has her eyes set on the Waleses and is said to feel gravely threatened by them.
Camilla is said to be intimidated by the stronghold that William and Kate Middleton will have over the monarchy in the future and is already frightened by where it will leave her within the palace walls. Reportedly, this is one of the primary reasons behind her aiding her husband, King Charles, to reunite with the Sussexes.

She was also present with the King at Highgrove House where he reunited with his younger son Harry, daughter-in-law Meghan and grandchildren, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, whom Camilla reportedly considers far from a threat because they do not wield as much royal influence as the Waleses.
According to a report by Closer Online, the Queen Consort wishes to continue having a significant influence over the Royal family. She allegedly believes that she can have an easier reconciliation with Harry and Meghan compared to Kate and William.
Camilla has reportedly always had an uphill battle in forming a bond with her stepsons, William and Harry. It is speculated that the brothers are not very fond of their stepmother and the Duke of Sussex also referred to her as the “evil stepmother” in his 2023 memoir, Spare.
Reportedly, the Queen’s intention is to only keep her position within the Royal walls solidified and protected, which is why she wants to initiate a reunion with the Sussexes.

The source said, “Camilla would like to hold on to her position within the monarchy moving forward, even if Charles, God forbid, is not around. She feels it’s her right to continue to serve in a prominent role. She loves the ceremonial part and the high profile that comes with it, but, more than anything, she doesn’t want to be shunted to one side.”
While Queen Camilla might also not trust the Sussexes entirely, she has realized that they do not pose a direct threat to her, while as the future King and Queen, Prince William and Kate Middleton decide her fate within the palace walls, especially when Charles is not around.
According to the reports, the Queen Consort might be warming up to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for her own “personal gains.” It is also speculated that she might have played a pivotal role in planning the reunion between her husband and his younger son at Highgrove House, which took place on July 10, 2026.
However, rumors are rife that this alleged move by Camilla might have left William seething with rage, as he is said to be furious with his stepmother for “meddling” in such a sensitive matter.
