Prince Harry is said to be worried that recent security review measures announced by Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood may postpone a ruling on his own risk evaluation.
The Duke of Sussex previously lost a legal challenge against the Home Office regarding security provisions for himself and his family during UK visits, after his protection level was modified when he stopped being a working royal in 2020.
After returning to Britain over the summer, the Sussexes received approval from the Home Office for a security review, though no decision has been released yet. Harry and his advisers are weighing their options amid fears that the review might either push back any determination on his security arrangements or result in no changes.

On Monday, October 12, Mahmood revealed that security protocols for prominent public figures, including politicians and royals, would undergo urgent examination following the killing of Ann Widdecombe and other recent incidents.
Police protection will be broadened to encompass leaders of political parties who aren't MPs, along with peers, former MPs, ex-members of devolved parliaments, and political party representatives, she stated, according to The Telegraph.

The independent assessment, conducted by former national security adviser Sir Stephen Lovegrove, will examine how current security is delivered and whether resources and protocols are being utilized effectively.
The initiative will expand upon Sir Robert Buckland's ongoing review into the murder of Sir David Amess, Ms Mahmood informed the Commons.
Mahmood stated, "Those who enter public life do so to serve. Robust debate and criticism are part of the job. Threats, abuse and violence are not.
"An attack on any individual in public life is an attack on every one of us, and it is an attack on democracy itself.
"We owe it to those public servants we have tragically lost, and to everyone who believes in a fair and open country, to ensure those who serve receive the protection they deserve."
A source close to Prince Harry told the newspaper, "If the review is genuinely root-and-branch and truly independent, it could provide an opportunity to shine a light on the current processes, which appear contradictory and allow far too much discretion to be exercised according to political appetite or bias, rather than being grounded in an objective."
