Prince Harry’s “MasterClass” episode is already drawing attention for its price tag, which was reportedly a guaranteed fee of $250,000. Yet, the deal apparently had limits. According to one source, Harry agreed to speak about his late mother, Princess Diana, in the episode, but Prince William was not part of the conversation.

In his Naughty But Nice newsletter, Rob Shuter reported that typical celebrity instructors on “MasterClass” earn around $150,000. His sources said that Prince Harry negotiated far more than that. “Harry isn’t an ordinary celebrity guest,” one insider told Shuter. The source also added that the $250,000 guarantee was tied to a specific condition. In exchange for the higher fee, Harry agreed to discuss his mother, Princess Diana.

According to the source, the boundaries were clear. “Harry was willing to talk about Diana, grief and losing his mother,” the insider explained. “What he wasn’t willing to discuss was William, Catherine or Uncle Andrew.” Those subjects were described as off-limits. So, Harry’s equation with Prince William, along with Kate Middleton, stayed out of the sessions entirely.

Even so, the “MasterClass” episode reportedly included some deeply personal moments. During the session, Harry revealed that he regularly speaks to a portrait of Diana. He said he wonders what she would think of his life today. The Duke of Sussex also admitted that he thinks about her almost every night and most mornings.

These disclosures follow his bestselling memoir, “Spare,” his Netflix documentaries, and several interviews about his mother’s death. A royal source told Shuter’s newsletter that this project is different. “Harry has already told much of his story,” the source said. “Diana remains the one subject audiences will always pay to hear him discuss.”

The source also frames the high fee as part of the Sussexes’ evolving business strategy. The insider put it this way, “Harry isn’t selling royal secrets this time. He’s selling his own memories.”
