The owner of The Brady Bunch house is sharing how she made the home look like it did in the show
In an interview with PEOPLE, Tina Trahan said she "added hundreds and hundreds of pieces from episodes"
"I just kind of took it to a crazy level," she added
For Tina Trahan, owning the famous house from The Brady Bunch was just the beginning. Turning it into a near-perfect replica of the beloved sitcom's interiors? That's been the real labor of love.
In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE at The Brady Bunch Experience on Tuesday, April 28, in North Hollywood, Los Angeles, Trahan explained that she purchased the home from HGTV, which had already done some "extensive renovations to the structure.”
“And when I came, I added hundreds and hundreds of pieces from episodes and I bought the cars, had them shipped in, wrapped with the original wheels and tires... I just kind of took it to a crazy level," Trahan adds.

In essence, Trahan wanted those who entered the home to feel like they were stepping into an episode of the beloved show.
“So when people come in, they see items that they remember from the shows and remind them of the episodes,” she says. “So that has been really fun. It makes it much more of an experience."
But recreating that experience has required patience and a sharp eye for detail, with Trahan acknowledging it took "years" to get the home to its current state — and adding, “By the way, I'm still not done.”

Even now, she's still searching for pieces that meet her exacting standards.
“Well, there are a few things that [are] e close, but they're not perfect,” she explains. “Like the chairs around the table outside — the chairs they had are not the same chairs, but they're similar ... I found two [but] I need four and they have to be in great condition, but they have to be from the '60s.”

In some cases, the challenge starts with figuring out what an object even is. Trahan recalls one particularly puzzling detail from the show's set.
“At the bottom of the stairs, there's a console table and there's a blue ram, but in the show, you just see this blue, like, lob, and you're like, ‘What is that? Is that a cat? Is that a dog? Is it a water buffalo?'” she says.
She continues: “So it was way later that I realized it was a ram. Someone told me it was a ram. But then it took forever to find.”
Fans will be able to visit The Brady Bunch Experience — a recreated version of the show's set inside the real Brady Bunch home — from May 11 to June 12.
