Melania Trump and her low, wide-brim, face-shading hats are a package deal these days.

It was January 20, 2025, the day of Donald Trump’s second presidential inauguration, when the United States’s first lady first showed up in an impossibly strict, flat-brimmed hat that nearly covered her face. The navy-and-white piece was designed by New York’s Eric Javitz, and she paired it with an equally structured coat and leather gloves. Later that year, during her and Donald’s official state visit to the United Kingdom, she greeted the British royal family while in a wide, grape-purple hat that actually curved down, completely concealing her eyes at most angles.

And today, Melania did it again, as she reunited with the British royals while wearing a super-strict raffia hat with a cream ribbon and the sharpest wide brim. This one, also from Javitz, sat exactly at her eyebrows, providing her with a clear view forward while still keeping her face in the shadows. An elaborate chignon bun rested snugly below it.

Melania paired the headpiece with aRalph Lauren skirt suit in a rich ivory—leaning into American design—and matching Manolo Blahnik stilettos for day two of King Charles III and Queen Camilla’s state visit to the U.S. The fitted jacket created an hourglass silhouette and was paired with a pencil skirt.

Mrs. Trump even wore a glossy cream manicure to go with her set (and the rest of the pastel tones she’s been wearing on the trip), and accessorized with diamond stud earrings.
