Leighton Meester told *ScreenRant *in an article published on March 17 that she has already read some of the upcoming *Gossip Girl *book sequel, *Blair*. The novel, written by Cecily von Ziegesar and slated to come out in 2027 via Grand Central Publishing, will focus on her iconic character.

"I think it's cool. I did read some of it. They sent it to me in advance just so I could, I don't know, see what's going on," Meester told the publication at SXSW while promoting her new film *Basic*. "So, I read like the first seven chapters, and yeah, I think they're making it, they're going to release it as a book."

Blair's last *Gossip Girl** *literary appearance was in 2009's *I Will Always Love You*, where she sought a fresh start in college and broke things off with Nate.

Per *ScreenRant*, the upcoming novel *Blair *takes place 20 years after the first book series' events. A middle-aged Blair returns to Manhattan and attempts to climb the social ladder and return to the affluent circle she had been part of years before.
