Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has said fans of the team are more than welcome to criticize them after quarterback Dak Prescott clashed with a worker at AT&T Stadium.

Week 5 of the 2026 NFL season kicked off on Thursday night last week with the Cowboys welcoming the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to town. The Cowboys were expected to pick up a routine win at home against the Buccaneers, who were starting undrafted rookie Jalon Daniels at quarterback in place of Baker Mayfield, only for Dallas to fall 24-16 to Tampa Bay in stunning fashion.

Following the loss, Prescott was involved in a heated clash with an individual who heckled him as the Cowboys quarterback headed back to the locker room.

The individual in question could be heard shouting "embarrassing" at Prescott. The Cowboys quarterback fired back, "Tough guy, get his a-- out of here," to a Dallas staffer.

Pro Football Talk reports that the worker who heckled Prescott was a driver hired by a third-party contractor.

However, speaking earlier this week about the incident, Jones admitted he believes Cowboys fans should be able to "express themselves" and failed to defend Prescott.

"It doesn't impact me at all. The driver in question was not an employee," said Jones, who was spotted during the game against the Buccaneers slamming his hand down on a table, on 105.3 The FAN.

"Fans can express themselves, and should express themselves. Whether he was our employee or not, he was a fan, it sounds like. I'm for our fans expressing themselves."

Prescott himself said of the incident, "When he said it I just happened to look at him, and at that point he looked away, didn't look, and when I turned my head back, he said something else.

"So that's the part that, just as a man or a person, feel free to speak your mind. Just speak it. Don't cower away from the reaction that you're going to get. If you're saying it's embarrassing, say it's embarrassing. If you're saying it to me, say it to me. Don't go back on it.

"That's all it was. I hate that it's even being talked about, to be honest with you."

Following the loss to the Buccaneers, Dallas dropped to 2-3 on the year and is set to travel to Lambeau Field this weekend to take on the Green Bay Packers on Sunday night.

Thankfully for Dallas, Week 5 proved disastrous for their NFC East rivals as well, with the Philadelphia Eagles losing in stunning fashion to the Jacksonville Jaguars in London on a walk-off field goal, while the New York Giants and Washington Commanders tied 27-27.
