Emmy Russell and her husband Tyler Ward announced they are pregnant again with their second baby

Emmy Russell is going to be a mom again!

The singer, 27, is pregnant and expecting her second baby, with her husband, Tyler Ward, sharing the news on their Instagram. In the video, Russell, who appeared on American Idol and is the granddaughter of country music singer Loretta Lynn, could be seen sharing the exciting news with her husband.

Russell gave their daughter, Taylor Raydiant, 12 months, a positive pregnancy test and told her husband to pick her up when he walked into the room. Overcome with joy, Ward came over to hug Russell when he realized the news.

"Secrets out!! Baby #2," Russell and Ward wrote in their joint caption.

Last February, Russell spoke with PEOPLE about her big year — not only did the musician finish in the top five on American Idol, but she also welcomed her first baby and (secretly) married the love of her life, Ward.

"My labor was long, but it was worth it," Russell told PEOPLE. "I remember looking at her and she immediately had...her eyes were wide open, they sat her on me, and she just looked at me, she knew I was her mom, and I just looked at her and like, ugh, it makes me cry still."

When it came time to decide their daughter's name, Russell knew she wanted to honor her husband, Ward, whom she met through his company Song House, a collective of songwriters based out of downtown Nashville. After coming off of Idol, Russell was at home when she says she felt like she heard someone telling her she was pregnant.

"I was sitting in my bed, as weird as this sounds, I literally heard, I felt like I heard God tell me, 'Emmy, you're pregnant, and your baby is Radiant.' And I just heard the name Radiant. And so I was like, 'Okay, well...' And I felt the color pink," she said.

Once she took a test, the musician discovered that she actually was pregnant — and she already had the name. "We said we had this name Radiant planned out, and it's weird, but I just felt like that was the name," Russell said. "And then I was thinking, 'Well, Tyler's middle name's Ray.' And then I told his mom and she was like, 'Well, it's a family name.'"

"So her name is Taylor Raydiant Ward, R-A-Y-D-I-A-N-T," Ward clarified. "We went with Taylor Ray for Tyler Ray, because she looks very similar and I'm freaking out. It's amazing."

Then, in July, Russell and Ward gave an update on their daughter after sharing that she'd been hospitalized due to having "small seizures." The couple posted an update on their Instagrams, writing, "We learned yesterday that she has infantile spasms, which after doing research it’s 0.02% of conditions," Tyler said at the time. "So very, very rare.”

“And often treated early, results can be positive. It’s about 50/50 chance, which is crazy. We feel like y’all’s prayers and support have actually made a huge difference," he continued. "We saw her this morning before we gave her to the MRI, and she seems more like she’s more herself. But they issue some steroids to help the brain activity slow down."

Later that same day, the two shared another update on their social media after Taylor's MRI results came back.

“So we got the MRI results back,” Tyler said. “The whole team of like six came in and said that they didn’t see anything, but the radiologist had to look at the charts again. Three hours later, the radiologist came in and said everything looks normal."

"There is one concern, and we will go into details of that at some point. But for the most part, we got to take Taylor home," he continued. "She has two weeks of medication and then a follow-up. So in two weeks, we’ll know for sure. But as of now, it is a miracle.”
