HBO Max has released the first trailer for Stuart Fails to Save the Universe.
Kevin Sussman leads the Big Bang Theory sci-fi spinoff.
Brian Posehn, Lauren Lapkus, and John Ross Bowie also star in the new comedy.
The Big Bang Theory universe has expanded again with Stuart Fails to Save the Universe— and now viewers can get a closer look.
HBO Max just released the first trailer for the Big Bang spinoff, which finds some fan-favorite characters returning to save the world from a multiversal Armageddon. Comic book store owner Stuart Bloom (Kevin Sussman) has been deemed the "chosen one who'll set things right," but he's not exactly John Connor.
When asked what his plan is, he replies, "I don't really have one." Then he admits, "I'm kind of new to the action genre."
Stuart Fails to Save the Universe continues the BBT timeline (or timelines?) by following the sci-fi adventures of Stuart, whose store was often frequented by Sheldon (Jim Parsons) and Leonard (Johnny Galecki) on the massively popular sitcom. And it's actually the actions of Sheldon and Leonard that serve as the catalyst for the events of this new series: a device they built brings upon this hellscape on Earth.

Stuart is joined on his journey to reset reality by a trio of familiar Big Bang faces: geologist and loyal customer Bert Kibbler (Brian Posehn), Stuart's ex-girlfriend and former assistant manager Denise (Lauren Lapkus), and quantum physicist and Sheldon rival Barry Kripke (John Ross Bowie).
HBO Max is also teasing that Stuart and company will meet "alternate-universe versions of characters we've come to know and love from The Big Bang Theory," which is beautiful news to the accountants of Parsons and Galecki.

Premiering July 23, Stuart Fails to Save the Universe is the fourth entry in the Big Bang-verse and the first sequel. Big Bang prequel Young Sheldon has already completed a seven-season run and spawned its own follow-up, Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage, which will return for a third season in the fall.
