Country musician Bailey Zimmerman is breaking his silence on the warrant issued for his arrest after he was accused of trashing an Albuquerque, N.M., hotel room.

"To the Pueblo of Sandia and my fans: I want to address the events surrounding my canceled show in New Mexico in May and the reports that have followed," Zimmerman said in a statement to *.* "First things first, I want to apologize to the Pueblo of Sandia and to everyone at Sandia Resort & Casino. I never meant for any of this to come across as disrespectful."

Zimmerman also had a message for his fans, who purchased tickets to the abruptly canceled show at the Sandia Resort and Casino in Albuquerque shortly before it was set to begin. The May 27 show's cancellation came a day before housekeeping reportedly found more than $16,000 worth of damage to Zimmerman's hotel room.

"I am so sorry, you deserved better from me," Zimmerman said to his fans. "I understand that being a musician comes with big responsibilities, both on and off stage, and I know that I fell short that day. I am reflecting on the disappointment and concern that I caused."

The singer concluded his statement by saying he was taking the matter seriously, adding, "I am committed to doing the work necessary to learn and grow. Thank you to my fans for holding me accountable and for understanding that I am human. I do not take your support for granted."

According to court documents reviewed by EW, the warrant for Zimmerman's arrest was issued on June 18. The musician has been accused of a misdemeanor for falsely obtaining services, and a fourth-degree felony for criminal damage to property over $1,000. The charges stem from Zimmerman's alleged conduct before and after a concert scheduled for May 27 at the Sandia Resort and Casino in Albuquerque.

Zimmerman was set to perform at the resort's 4,000-seat Sandia Amphitheater that day, as part of his Different Night, Same Rodeo Tour, in support of his 2025 album of the same name. But that concert never happened, as the "Just Believe" singer pulled out a mere hours before showtime.

"It's so hard for me to have to say this, but I have to reschedule tonight's (5/27) and Saturday's (5/30) shows," he wrote on Instagram at the time. "I have not been feeling well and have tried to power through, but I'm not able to give you all the show you deserve. I hate letting y'all down and was really looking forward to these shows, but I gotta take care of myself so I can get back out there stronger."

Behind the scenes, an affidavit for the warrant obtained by PEOPLE* *on Monday paints an erratic picture of Zimmerman's alleged behavior that day.

According to the affidavit, Zimmerman "stumbled onto the stage" during sound check, and proceeded to slam a guitar against the ground, kick a drum set, and throw two cymbals and a microphone before "tripping over the stage and falling backward," and then "angrily" leaving. After allegedly spitting "toward a Sandia security officer standing nearby," Zimmerman delayed his exit by refusing at first to get into a waiting SUV, because it was white and not black.

Back at the resort, where Zimmerman was allegedly "seen stumbling down the hallway toward his room" with blood on his left knee," the affidavit claims Zimmerman caused more than $16,000 in damages to his room — including an unpaid $400 alcohol charge — before checking out.
